Made the Summit

Congratulations to my expedition mates: Rob, Chaz, Dorjee Sherpa, Gavin Sherpa for reaching the Summit of Mt. Everest at 7:30am local time May 19!  For Dorjee this marks eight times reaching the Summit and Gavin has now reached the Summit for the forth time! This photo is of them receiving a prayer for a successful climb and was taken while I was with them at Base Camp on April 8.

As you may have read in the news, there was an added challenge this year after the team that usually affixes the ropes pulled out because they believed that conditions were too dangerous.  Our small team banded together with several other teams and a new group led the way to affix the ropes. What an incredible accomplishment and another great example of the Sherpa Spirit – perseverance and finding a way to succeed!
